Is group fitness part of membership?

Yes, all non fee-based group fitness classes are included in your Mettler membership. Only specialized classes like Tai Chi, Tai Chi for Arthritis, Pilates Fundamentals, and Qi-Gong for Cancer & Diabetes require a separate fee.

Can nonmembers attend group fitness classes?

Yes, nonmembers have the option of paying on a per-class basis or purchasing a punch card good for 10 classes.

Do I have to be in shape to attend group fitness?

We offer classes for everyone, and that includes every fitness level, body shape, and size. Some of our classes are geared toward more advanced levels, while others more specifically target beginners. If you're unsure about whether a class is right for you, ask a group fitness instructor or speak with Member Services.

How can I find a class that best fits my needs?

The best way to find a class that works for you is to ask questions. Tell your instructor about your goals and needs. From there, we'll work to establish a plan of action to achieve the best results possible.

Is a group fitness class as effective as working out on the fitness floor?

It depends. Some people prefer group fitness classes because of the group atmosphere and motivating instructor. But mainly, it depends on you. Overall, group fitness is a great addition to a regular strength and cardio program that would take place out on the fitness floor.

I have a crazy schedule. Will I be able to find a class at the right time?

We hope so! We have classes beginning at 5:45am, running throughout the day until 8:00pm.

Is child care available?

Childcare is available only at the Crossing location. For more information see our Tot Spot page.

Are group fitness classes for women only?

Absolutely not. Our group fitness classes are diverse in their content and formats. We believe that Mettler offers a class for everyone!

Are there group fitness classes for seniors?

We offer two classes especially designed with the senior participant in mind. PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise), is a class designed by the Arthritis Foundation and is taught by an instructor with additional Arthritis Foundation training. Full of Life is an advanced level of PACE and includes a structured fitness program for seniors, but also is great for those with special needs.

I’ve never been to a yoga class before. What can I expect?

Yoga is a challenging exercise that incorporates stretching and flexibility with strength and cardio. We offer a variety of levels of intensity for the beginner to the advanced. Yoga is typically done in bare feet, on our provided exercise mats. Modifications are given for all poses and you're welcome to observe before signing up. Talk to the instructor if you are unsure if the class is right for you. Additional one-on-one sessions are available. Participants should wear comfortable, loose clothing, and bring water.
